Ranked a top CEO by the Dallas Morning News, G. Brint Ryan, MS, CPA, is the Founder, Chairman and CEO of Ryan, an award-winning global tax services firm. Earning the #6 position on Fortune magazine's 2012 list of "Best Medium Workplaces", Ryan is the largest indirect tax practice in North America and the seventh largest corporate tax practice in the United States.
Ranked among Texas Monthly's Top 25 most powerful people, Mr. Ryan was appointed by Lt. Governor David Dewhurst to the Texas Select Committee on Economic Development. He was also appointed by Governor Rick Perry to serve as Chairman of the University of North Texas System Board of Regents, and by Susan Combs, Texas Comptroller of Public Accounts, to serve on the Taxpayer Advisory Group.
A contributing editor (2004-2012) to CH's Guidebook to Texas Taxes, Mr. Ryan has been repeatedly cited for excellence. He has been named the CEO of the Year by the Houston Work-Life Roundtable and has received the Patriot Award for Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve, the 2009 Distinguished Alumnus Award, 2003 Outstanding Alumnus Service Award and the 1997 Alumnus of the Year Award from the University of Northern Texas (UNT); THE Distinguished Alumni Award from Pi Kappa Alpha, the 2011 Distinguished Alumnus Award from the Beta Pi Chapter of Beta Alpha Psi; and the Customer Service CEO of the YEAR FROM THE Customer Service Institute of American and International Council of Customer Service Organizations.
Mr. Ryan was on the Superbowl XLV Host Committee and is the inaugural member of UNT's Dallas Founders Circle. He is a frequent speaker on the state and local tax topics, as well as on "best places to work" practices. He regularly appears as a speaker for organizations like the Institute for Professionals in Taxation, National Business Institute, Texas Executives Institute and the Dallas, Houston, El Paso and Fort Worth Chapters of the Texas Society of Certified Public Accountants.
He is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, the Dallas / Fort Worth State Tax Association, the Institute for Professionals in Taxation and the Texas Society of Certified Public Accountants. He also chairs the Ryan Foundation, a non-profit that has donated $2.7 million and countless hours to such organizations as the American Cancer Society, Make-A-Wish Foundation, Special Olympics, American Forests, United Way and the Red Cross. He serves on the Texas Affiliate Board of Blue Cross Blue Shield; is a member of the Junior League of Dallas Community Advisory Board, serves on the Board of Trustee for the Pi Kappa Alpha Foundation; recently assisted with the building of a private residence and an educational facility that was deeded to UNT, Dallas; is a board Member of the American Heart Association, Friends of Wednesday's Child, Habitat for Humanity in Dallas and Dream Dallas; co-founded Texas Governor Rick Perry's Super PAC; and is on UNT's Accounting Advisory Board and College of Business Advisory Board.
Mr. Ryan is CEO of Settles Hotel Development Company, which restored the historic Settles Hotel in Big Spring, Texas. The building is one of the most historically significant structures in Texas. A native of West Texas, he also has oil, gas and agribusiness interests in Howard County, Texas.
He resides in Dallas with his wife Amanda and their five daughters. He enjoys spending weekends with his family and can often be found a Y-Princess events and school functions with his daughters.
